The Framo LiftUP system for sludge collection is a revolutionary new system for collecting and removing feed and fish excrement from fish cages. The system minimizes the environmental impact that residues of feed and fish excrement have on the marine environment.

The system is automated and designed to pump up feed and fish excrement by using a Framo LiftUP combihat which is placed at the bottom of the fish cage. The sludge is then taken to the raft for filtration to avoid accumulation on the seabed. The concentrated waste is stored in a tank and transported to, for example, a biogas plant, where it is converted into renewable energy and a high-quality fertilizer product.

The mud collection for Framo LiftUP, which has been developed in collaboration with environmental organisations, has been tested together with a leading global aquaculture company and has already been sold to several fish farming companies.
