Record Orders Drive Job Growth in Fusa

Fusa is growing rapidly! With increased activity, there is a high demand for recruiting more skilled workers. The pace is fast, with creative campaigns and training initiatives underway to fill the open positions.

Fusa is in an exciting growth phase, with increasing activity and expansion plans in progress. To meet the demand, new approaches to training and creative campaigns have been developed, particularly to recruit more people to the welding profession. The focus is now on filling open positions and raising awareness of the many opportunities at Fusa.

“Since this summer, we have managed to sign employment contracts with 75 new colleagues. For the next six months, we aim to have about 50 new signatures, a total increase of 125”, says Vidar Dale, Production
Manager at Framo Fusa.

More construction – more work

The marine market has seen a significant upturn, and the demand for cargo pumps has increased considerably following the surge in newbuild activity for tankers and production vessels.
“Sales have been successful in securing orders for us, and we have a record-high order backlog that we will transform into high-quality pumps for our customers”.

This means that many more hands are needed.
"Our most pressing recruitment need is skilled workers for production. While we are hiring across all departments, the 'Welding' sector is experiencing the greatest growth. At the same time, all departments at
Framo Fusa are facing increased pressure, so we must also recruit for these areas to maintain capacity and ensure quality at every level," says Vidar.

Competing for talents

With low unemployment, there is tough competition for skilled workers. “When we are recruiting as extensively as Framo Fusa is now and plans to do, we must use all channels to find enough people – and, most importantly, raise general awareness about our needs. From advertising in newspapers and online to temporary hires and establishing our own training programs to both attract and fill the necessary skills”.
When welders are in short supply, Fusa has taken the initiative to build welding skills internally by offering training and development opportunities for those who want to learn the trade. “So far, we have managed to recruit the skills we need, but moving  forward, we will likely need to think differently. That's why we are
exploring ways to develop skills in candidates who may not meet all the requirements but possess the right attitude and mindset. We have experience with this from the past, and it will naturally involve collaboration with external suppliers. How exactly this will look is still too early to say, but we are confident this will be a good solution”.
