The 5th of July Framo Singapore celebrates 40 years in the world leading shipping hub. Since 1982 Framo has been close to the customers in Southeast Asia.

"We have a fantastic team who go over and above to get the job done, to satisfy our customers and keep the Framo Spirit alive - We're lucky", says the Managing Director in Framo Singapore, Jan Erik Eriksen.

In these 40 years, the staff in Singapore has grown from 6 to 48 employees. All from diverse backgrounds such as Norway, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Myanmar and even one from the Shetland Islands!

In 2002, Framo Singapore moved to their current location.

"We used rented properties previously, moving as we grew. The current building at 17 Tuas View Circuit we built and moved into in beginning of 2002", Jan Erik says.

Singapore is a major international maritime center and a global air hub. Since 1986, Singapore has been the busiest port in the world in terms of shipping tonnage, with an annual average of 140,000 vessel calls. It is the focal point for some 200 shipping lines with links to more than 600 ports in over 120 countries worldwide.

Framo wants to be close to where our customers operate. It seems to have been a strategic and wise decision to establish a local Framo office in Singapore 40 years ago.

"Singapore is the ship management capital of the world. Currently Framo have 70 Ship management companies here in Singapore responsible for nearly 700 Framo vessels. We also look after customers in the surrounding countries of Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and to some extent India and Hong Kong. So yes, we are busy, but busy is good."

From the Framo location, the Singapore team can provide Spare part sales, technical support and training. The office has an engineering team for workshop & field service, and offers on board inspections. Framo Singapore also includes oil laboratory and full workshop repair and overhaul facilities for reconditioning, pipe fabrication and welding.

"Our core business has always been the Marine sector – The Framo Cargo Pumps and Anti-Heeling pumps. But over the last seven years we have also been building up competence and experience on Framo's offshore pumps, in particular the Submerged Electrical pumps in order to meet the demands of our offshore customers in this area. We see there is a real need for more localized support and service for these products", Jan Erik says.
