Energy Isolation

Think safety when planning: energy sources* must be identified, locked/marked before work starts.

  • Ensure energy is removed or properly isolated.
  • Test for residual energy in the system.
  • Necessary protective equipment must be used.
  • Consider the need for barriers during risk assessment.
  • Work on electrical installations must only be carried out by electrical/instructed personnel. FSE courses must be completed and a course certificate submitted

* Energy sources can be electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, chemical, gravity or rotation.
